First-Time Visit to Aruba: Highlights & Tips

I recently had the chance to visit Aruba for the very first time, and it completely lived up to its nickname, “One Happy Island.” Between the natural beauty, warm people, and ease of getting around, Aruba is a destination I know I’ll be recommending to many of my travelers. If you’re considering it, here are a few highlights from my trip that you won’t want to miss.

Unforgettable Sunsets

Every evening, Aruba seemed to outdo itself. Grab a glass of champagne, or even better, book a sunset catamaran cruise; you won’t be disappointed. The sunsets truly put on a show nearly every night!

Explore Beyond the Resort

Renting a Jeep or side-by-side for the day is a must. It gave me the chance to see more of the island’s natural beauty. Two stops that really stood out were the California Lighthouse and the relaxing Baby Beach. The island is easy to get around, making exploration simple and stress-free.

The Locals Make the Island Special

While Aruba is beautiful, what struck me most was how genuinely welcoming and fun the locals were. Every interaction left me smiling and feeling more connected to the island.

Getting Around Is Easy

Whether you’re renting a car, taking a taxi, or exploring on your own, Aruba is simple to navigate. Staying at your hotel the entire time means missing out on the true essence of the island, so I highly recommend venturing out beyond your resort.

All-Inclusive or Not?

This is always a big question for travelers. All-inclusive resorts are great for convenience and keeping your budget in check, especially if you want meals and drinks included. But don’t miss the chance to try some of Aruba’s amazing local dining options. Non-inclusive hotels give you even more flexibility to explore the island’s culinary scene. Comparing your options will help you make the best decision.

Travel Days Made Simple

One of the best perks for Minnesota travelers is that there are nonstop flights from Minneapolis to Aruba throughout the winter. It’s a smooth, easy getaway to sunshine when you need it most.

Whether you’re looking for adventure, relaxation, or a mix of both, Aruba truly has it all. After my first visit, I can confidently say it’s a destination worth experiencing.
