Good afternoon, everyone. My name is Eric Johnson, and I am excited to introduce myself as the new Cruise Specialist for Destination Vacation. I am looking forward to working with all of you, whether you are planning your first cruise or your tenth.
Cruising is one of my favorite ways to travel, and over the years, I have gathered a lot of tips, tricks, and stories from being out at sea. I created this blog to share those experiences, so if you are new to cruising, you will feel prepared, and if you are a seasoned cruiser, you can stay up to date on what is happening in the cruise world.
Top 5 Things to Bring on Your Next Cruise
1. Proper Identification
Every cruise line requires valid identification during check-in. A passport is always preferred and recommended for every member of your travel party. If you do not have a passport, most cruise lines will accept a government-issued photo ID, such as a driver’s license, along with an original state-issued birth certificate. Copies will not work, so be sure to request an official copy from your state if needed before you sail.

2. Motion Sickness Remedy
Cruise ships are massive, and most of the time, you barely feel them move, but motion sickness can still happen. I recommend bringing Scopolamine patches or motion sickness pills just in case. I personally use the patches. They attach behind your ear and last up to three days each. You can get them from your doctor, and they are simple and effective.
3. Basic Medications
The ship will have a medical center and a small shop, but over-the-counter medications are expensive onboard. I always pack a few basics like Advil or Tylenol, cold medicine, antacids for heartburn, and cough drops. It is better to have these on hand than need them later.
4. Magnetic Hooks
This is a game-changer. Cruise ship cabin walls are magnetic, which means you can use magnetic hooks to create extra space. They are great for hanging hats, swimsuits, jackets, lanyards, and other small items you do not want cluttering the closet or counter space.
5. Comfortable Shoes
Yes, you will probably spend a lot of time in sandals, but do not forget comfortable walking shoes. Many cruise ports require a bit of walking before you reach excursion areas or beaches. Cruise ships are also huge, so you will appreciate comfortable shoes while exploring the ship.

Thank you for reading my first blog. These are simple items, but they make a big difference in your cruise experience. I look forward to sharing more tips, destination highlights, and cruise insights with you in future posts.
You are always having fun when you are on a cruise.
