Explore the Best of Costa Rica: Rainforest and Beach Bliss

It was many years ago when I first experienced the magic of Costa Rica. I was awestruck by its natural beauty, unique activities, and the sense of adventure that made every day unforgettable. That trip became a cherished memory of  misty rainforests, and the fun adventures.

Last year, I finally returned—and it felt like reuniting with an old friend. I fell in love all over again, discovering even more reasons to appreciate this incredible destination. Costa Rica’s blend of untouched nature, eco-friendly experiences, and pure relaxation offers something special every time you visit.

Costa Rica offers a perfect blend of lush rainforests and active beaches, making it an incredible destination for travelers seeking adventure and relaxation. Whether you’re hiking through misty jungles, marveling at cascading waterfalls, or catching a wave at the ocean, Costa Rica delivers an unforgettable experience. Here’s a few fun details on some of my personal favorite spots within this destination. 

Arenal & La Fortuna: Adventures in the Shadow of the Volcano

The Arenal region is a haven for nature lovers and thrill-seekers alike. Dominated by the majestic Arenal Volcano, this area boasts lush jungles, natural hot springs, and abundant wildlife. 

Adventurers that can’t miss zip-lining through the canopy or navigating the hanging bridges. Also make sure you have on your list is the  La Fortuna Waterfall offers an invigorating swim beneath its powerful cascade. Be prepared for many steps down and remember you will have to go back up. 

For some relaxation after a day of hiking, head to one of the region’s many hot spring resorts. You can get a day pass to a hotels hots springs if yours does not have them or there is a public natural hot spring you can enjoy too! I have experienced both ways, each unique in their own way. 

Rio Celeste: A Gem of Natural Beauty

Nestled in the Tenorio Volcano National Park, Rio Celeste is famed for its brilliant blue waters—a natural phenomenon caused by mineral reactions. The hike to the Rio Celeste Waterfall is a moderately challenging journey through dense rainforest. This is about a 4 mile hike that is definitely worth the views. I have never seen a waterfall so blue!  This hike was the highlight of our last trip to Costa Rica!

Guanacaste: Beachside Paradise

After immersing yourself in the rainforest, it’s time to unwind in the Guanacaste region. Known for its many beaches and sunny climate, this area is ideal for water sports, relaxation, and incredible sunsets. Relaxing for a few days at the beach after all the adventure you just enjoyed is the perfect way to unwind before heading home! 

There are many beaches in this area, and offer both all inclusive resorts and boutique style hotels! Truly something for everyone.
